From Lab to Limelight: PAU Student’s Research Grabs Global Attention

In a remarkable feat, Mr. Gopal Krishan, an M.Sc. student specializing in Plant Breeding and Genetics at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has brought laurels to the institution by winning the coveted “Best Poster Presentation Award.” The accolade was bestowed upon him during the International Conference on “Strategies for Global Food and Nutritional Security, Sustainability and Wellness,” held at CCS Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar from November 4-6.

Under the mentorship of Dr. Shayla Bindra, a distinguished Pulse Breeder, Mr. Krishan presented a paper titled “Phenotypic and molecular evaluation of advanced backcross lines of chickpea (Cicer arietinum).” His research delved into the intricate aspects of chickpea breeding, employing both phenotypic and molecular evaluations to enhance our understanding of this vital crop.

The award not only reflects Mr. Krishan’s dedication and expertise but also underscores the significant contributions of PAU in the field of agricultural research.
