Bathinda resident Anmolpreet Singh, meanwhile, has gained admission to Electronics Engineering at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The five students had been selected through the National Super 100 entrance examination held in 2025. They subsequently underwent free residential coaching for JEE Main and JEE Advanced at the CSRL centre in Delhi, where they received academic preparation and other support for the highly competitive entrance examinations.
For several of the students, the achievement has come despite considerable financial and personal challenges. Abhay belongs to a farming family that owns just one acre of land, while his father is battling a serious illness. Prabhjot is the son of a labourer.
Anmolpreet, who studied at a government school, was not even familiar with the JEE examination initially and learnt about the opportunity through the programme.
According to an HMEL official, 14 students supported through the initiative over the past four years have secured admission to leading engineering institutions, including IITs and NITs.
The programme is set to continue in the coming academic year, with another 10 students selected for the 2026–27 session. They will undergo 11 months of free residential coaching in Delhi as they prepare for the JEE examinations.
