Brazilian Ambassador Explores Investment Opportunities in Punjab

In a bid to bolster bilateral ties and explore avenues of collaboration, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, welcomed H.E. Mr. Kenneth H. Da Nobrega, Ambassador of Brazil, in a cordial courtesy call at Punjab Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh.

The meeting, held today, saw the Governor extending a warm reception to Ambassador Nobrega and assuring full support to enhance relations between Brazil and Punjab. Highlighting India’s remarkable economic transformation over the past decade, the Governor emphasized its attractiveness as an investor-friendly destination.

Expressing Punjab’s eagerness to attract Brazilian investment, the Governor underscored the state’s commitment to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships. In response, Ambassador Nobrega conveyed Brazil’s keen interest in exploring opportunities for cooperation and investment in Punjab.

In a significant development, Brazil has officially constituted a working group dedicated to furthering conversations and exploring concrete possibilities for collaboration across various sectors. Ambassador Nobrega outlined Brazil’s interest in areas such as agriculture, with a focus on resilient crop varieties, genetic materials in dairy farming, cotton production, and the promotion of solar energy and ethanol use. Additionally, collaboration in higher education and research was also discussed.

Expressing enthusiasm for potential partnerships, the Governor reiterated Punjab’s commitment to facilitating a conducive environment for investment and collaboration. The establishment of the working group marks a significant step forward in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Brazil and Punjab, opening doors for extensive cooperation and mutual prosperity.

Accompanying the Brazilian Ambassador were Mr. Wagner Antunes, Chief Advisor of the Ambassador and head of the Trade Division of the Embassy of Brazil, and Mr. Angelo Mauricio, Agricultural Attache of the Embassy of Brazil. Mr. K. Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Punjab, was also present at the occasion.

As Punjab continues to position itself as an attractive destination for foreign investment, the visit by Ambassador Nobrega signals a promising opportunity for both Brazil and the state to forge enduring partnerships and drive socio-economic growth through collaborative ventures.
