Accomplice of Goldy Brar Apprehended in Dera Follower’s Murder Case

The Punjab Police announced on Monday that they have arrested a key associate of fugitive gangster Goldy Brar who was the mastermind behind the murder of a dera follower in Faridkot district.

According to a tweet by DGP Gaurav Yadav, the gangster known as Harpreet Singh Bhau was apprehended by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).

Harpreet was presented before a duty magistrate and has been remanded in police custody for four days.

He had been on the run since the killing of Pardeep Singh at his shop in Kotkapura town, Faridkot, on November 10 of the previous year. The police have already arrested 14 individuals, including six assailants, in connection with the case.

The police revealed that aside from orchestrating the murder, Harpreet supplied the weapons and arranged accommodation for the assailants both before and after they carried out the attack on Pardeep on November 10, 2022.

Pardeep was implicated in the theft of a ‘bir’ (holy scripture) of Guru Granth Sahib from a gurdwara in Burj Jawahar Singh Wala, an incident that occurred in 2015.

Pardeep became the seventh dera follower to be killed in Punjab since the initial sacrilege case was reported at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala in Faridkot on June 1, 2015. During the 2022 attack, a police gunman accompanying Pardeep and another individual also sustained injuries.

Harpreet, a resident of Dhaipai village in Faridkot, managed to evade capture for approximately seven months, as stated by Harjeet Singh, SSP of Faridkot. “Given that he facilitated the assailants with weapons and shelter, his interrogation will aid in resolving the case,” added the SSP.
