Khalistani supporter Himmat Singh USA had appealed to the Sikhs in America, urging them to gather outside the White House at 11 AM on February 13th and chant slogans against Prime Minister Modi. They believe that Sikhs in India are constantly subjected to atrocities, and they hold Indian agencies responsible for the killings or assassination plots against Sikhs who demand freedom from abroad. Their aim seems to be to convince U.S. President Donald Trump that Sikhs are not safe in India, and not just in India, but also in countries like the U.S. and Canada.
On the other hand, the global Sikh community strongly opposes this. They believe that after Prime Minister Modi’s arrival, long-pending issues of Sikhs have been addressed, such as the creation of the Kartarpur Corridor, the widespread recognition of the martyrdom of Sahibzadas, and the prosecution of those responsible for the 1984 Sikh genocide. Sikh leader Parmjit Singh Chandok states that the government, which is working to address the concerns of Sikhs, should always be thanked. However, a few individuals abroad continue to oppose Prime Minister Modi, which ultimately tarnishes the image of the Sikh community worldwide. This, according to him, should not happen.
He has also appealed to the governments of the U.S. and Canada to take strict action against those who are attempting to disrupt the peace. Parmjit Singh Chandok emphasized that these people must understand that no Sikh in India has ever supported or will support Khalistan. Therefore, they should refrain from such actions. He called on Sikhs across America to warmly welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
