U.S. President Donald Trump, within a month of assuming office, launched a campaign to deport illegal immigrants from America, under which 104 Indians were expelled with the help of the military. These individuals were directly brought from the U.S. and dropped off in Amritsar. However, the manner in which they were brought to India has been strongly criticized worldwide.
Currently, more than 700,000 Indians are illegally residing in the U.S., and it is these individuals whom Khalistani supporters often target. These people, who are hiding from police and administration while looking for jobs, are lured into criminal activities. These immigrants often have no choice, as they invest all their family’s wealth to go to countries like the U.S. or Canada, hoping for a better life. However, this is not always as easy as they expect.
Thus, it can be said that U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision has dealt the biggest blow to Khalistani supporters. Any person who is working in a good job or is busy with their own business is unlikely to fall for the tricks of these supporters. These groups primarily target vulnerable people. Therefore, Trump’s decision is being welcomed by the people of India. Political experts believe that other countries may follow suit in the future.
With the recent deportations, especially of Punjabis, people should now learn a lesson. Those who resort to illegal methods in their desire to go abroad must seriously reconsider their actions. Many such individuals borrow money or use all their wealth to go abroad with the help of travel agents. While these agents may help them reach foreign lands illegally, these individuals often risk their lives during the journey and even after arrival. Only a few fortunate ones succeed.
