At an age when most students are discovering their favourite books and authors, 12-year-old Anusha Talwar has taken a step further by writing one of her own.
The Grade VII student of Ivy World School has made her literary debut with The Night My Sister Disappeared, a work of fiction published by Walnut Publications. The book is available through Amazon, Flipkart and the publisher’s website.

The story follows sisters Aira and Maya Sharma and begins with a heated argument between them. Soon afterwards, Maya, the elder sister, vanishes without a trace, leaving Aira to search for answers. What begins as an attempt to find her missing sister gradually draws Aira into a mystery in which each new clue brings her closer to danger.
“In a race against time, Aira has to find Maya before it’s too late. I am sure that the plot will keep the reader hooked,” Anusha said while describing the story.
For the young author, completing the book was also about finding a way to communicate the ideas and stories taking shape in her mind.
“Writing this book was my way of putting ideas to paper, sharing my imagination and thoughts with readers everywhere,” she said.
Her mother, Swati Talwar, said watching the book develop from an initial idea into a published work had been an exciting experience for the family.
“As a parent, it has been so exciting to watch Anusha’s journey from developing an idea and putting her thoughts into words to seeing them transformed into a published book,” she said. She added that she had sought to encourage her daughter’s creativity while also instilling the values of discipline, consistency and perseverance.
