Sikh Community Takes a Stand: Khalistan Extremist Banned from Surrey Gurdwara

The Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Surrey has banned Manjinder Singh, a known member of the Sikhs for Justice group, following a troubling incident that has intensified community frustration over extremist influences in local gurdwaras.

According to temple officials, Singh was caught engaging in drug-related activities on the premises and was subsequently confronted and removed by members of the congregation last week. The gurdwara acted swiftly to distance itself from any association with criminal or extremist elements.

The incident has reignited concerns within the Sikh community about the growing influence of Khalistan sympathizers in religious institutions. Many community leaders and worshippers are calling on other gurdwaras to follow suit and take a firm stand against individuals and groups that they say are exploiting places of worship for personal and political gain.

“These extremists are tarnishing the rich heritage of Sikhism and bringing shame to our community,” said a long-time community member, who asked not to be named. “Our gurdwaras are sacred spaces meant for prayer, service, and unity—not for political battles or criminal activity.”

There is a rising call for vigilance and stronger governance in temples across the region to preserve the integrity and values of Sikhism. Many hope that this latest action by the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple will encourage others to take proactive measures in safeguarding their institutions.

As the community continues to grapple with these challenges, leaders stress the importance of returning to the core principles of Sikhism: humility, honesty, and service to humanity.
