In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with the Mohali Police, apprehended four individuals connected to the Canada-based terrorist Arsh Dalla on Monday. The operation led by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav resulted in the seizure of three .32 calibre pistols, 16 cartridges, and the impoundment of the vehicle used by the suspects.
The detained operatives have been identified as Gagandeep Singh and Navjot Singh, also known as Nishu, both hailing from Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib and currently residing in a rented accommodation in Kharar; Lakhwinder Singh of Bhadson in Patiala; and Vipanpreet Singh from Faridkot. Authorities revealed that these individuals were not only involved in the recent criminal activities but also maintained extensive criminal records.
During the operation, the arrested individuals confessed to carrying out an assault on a car accessories showroom located in Phase 11, Mohali, during the night spanning December 1 and 2. According to DGP Yadav, the motive behind the attack was to intimidate the business owner and extort money, acting under the instructions of their foreign-based handler, Daljit Singh, alias Ninda. Yadav further disclosed that Daljit Singh, a known history-sheeter, had absconded to the United States using a passport with falsified details.
“The arrested operatives are part of a larger module connected to Arsh Dalla, orchestrating criminal activities aimed at destabilizing Punjab,” stated DGP Gaurav Yadav. He emphasized that the swift action taken by the AGTF and Mohali Police underscores the state’s commitment to combating terrorism and organized crime.
The joint operation not only disrupted the immediate threat posed by these operatives but also serves as a testament to the effective collaboration between state law enforcement agencies. Authorities are continuing their investigations to dismantle the network associated with Arsh Dalla and prevent future incidents.
Residents of Mohali and surrounding areas have expressed relief over the successful operation, which is expected to enhance the overall security landscape in the region. The Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force remains vigilant, pledging to take decisive measures against all forms of criminal and terrorist activities.
