In recent times, the term “Khalistan” has resurfaced in the international arena, raising concerns and sparking debates. However, amidst the clamor, it’s crucial to peel back the layers and examine the reality behind the façade. Jaswant Singh Thekedar, a former pro-Khalistan leader and founder of Dal Khalsa, has come forth with a striking revelation – the so-called “Khalistan Referendum” is nothing but a charade orchestrated by Pakistan’s ISI, with no resonance among the Sikhs in India, and abroad.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Thekedar aptly termed the attempts at Khalistan referendum as “pakhand,” emphasizing its deceptive nature. He unequivocally stated that the people of Punjab are not rallying for any referendum. Instead, he pointed fingers at the ISI, labeling it as the true antagonist of Khalistan, exploiting misguided individuals as pawns in its sinister game.
The narrative of a Khalistan Referendum, as propagated by certain proscribed outfits operating from foreign soils, lacks legitimacy and support from within Punjab. Thekedar’s assertion debunks the myth surrounding this referendum, highlighting its detachment from the aspirations of Sikhs in India.
Furthermore, recent incidents, such as the unauthorized gathering by Khalistani extremists prompting the closure of the Indian consulate in Brisbane, Australia, underscore the disruptive agenda fueled by external forces. The handiwork of ISI in instigating such actions becomes glaringly evident, aimed at destabilizing the region and sowing seeds of discord.
Thekedar’s insight sheds light on the nefarious designs of entities like “Warris Punjab De” chief Amritpal Singh, whose actions betray a lack of understanding of Sikh history and a blatant disregard for the genuine aspirations of the community. His opportunistic exploits, driven by personal gain, only serve to further the agenda of those pulling the strings from behind the curtains.
It’s imperative to recognize Pakistan’s vested interest in perpetuating the Khalistan narrative. By fostering separatist sentiments, Pakistan seeks to create turmoil within India, diverting attention from its own internal challenges. The prospect of a sovereign Khalistan serves as a convenient pawn in Pakistan’s geopolitical game, with little regard for the welfare of the Sikh community.
Moreover, Thekedar’s call for a political solution resonates with reason. By addressing the grievances of those once aligned with the Khalistan movement, the Indian government can pave the path towards reconciliation and unity.
In light of these revelations, it’s incumbent upon stakeholders to discern truth from propaganda. The narrative of Khalistan has been hijacked by external actors with ulterior motives. Instead, efforts should be directed towards fostering harmony and prosperity within the diverse fabric of India.
Thekedar’s testimony serves as a wake-up call, urging vigilance against external forces seeking to sow discord and division. The narrative of Khalistan is not guided by voices of reason and unity, but instead by the machinations of those intent on fostering chaos and instability.
By standing united against the divisive agenda of the ISI, the Sikh community can reaffirm its commitment to the principles of peace, justice, and coexistence, embodying the true spirit of Sikhism.
