In a stirring call to action, leaders and activists from a variety of social and educational organizations have pledged to champion the revival and preservation of the region’s cultural heritage. The commitment was made during a vibrant Teej celebration hosted by the Malerkotla Ladies Club, where attendees embraced the values of cultural heritage as central to their daily lives.
The initiative was sparked by a passionate address from Malerkotla Deputy Commissioner, Pallavi, who lauded the Ladies Club for its proactive approach in raising awareness about social issues through cultural programming. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that embracing cultural elements not only fosters innovation and discipline but also reinforces vital social values and norms.
In her address, DC Pallavi urged the participating office-bearers and activists to align with ongoing administrative efforts aimed at combating various social evils. She highlighted key areas of focus, including illiteracy, gender discrimination, dowry practices, environmental pollution, and drug addiction. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of women’s organizations in integrating cultural values into youth education to curb social problems such as substance abuse and crimes against women.
“It is crucial that organizations dedicated to women’s welfare take an active role in nurturing cultural values among the younger generation,” DC Pallavi asserted. “By doing so, we can effectively address and prevent social issues that plague our society.”
