In a remarkable display of unity and environmental commitment, a significant plantation drive was inaugurated yesterday at the Dada Army Range. The ambitious initiative, a collaboration between the civil administration, the Army, and the Forest Department, aims to enhance green cover and promote ecological balance in the region.

The event saw the participation of key figures including Revenue Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa and Major General Mukesh Sharma, GOC of the Amritsar Division. Army formations from Jalandhar also contributed to the cause, underscoring the drive’s broad-based support.

Spearheaded by Colonel Mandip Grewal and his wife Kamaljit Grewal, the drive focused on planting a diverse array of saplings. Among the species planted were sukh-chain, peepal, neem, silver oak, bode, sheesham, kachnar, and jacaranda. The ambitious goal of the initiative is to plant approximately 2,000 saplings.

The ongoing drive will be overseen by Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) N. Yadav, who will guide the effort in the coming weeks. This collaborative effort reflects a growing commitment to environmental stewardship and sets a commendable example for future initiatives.

The massive plantation drive not only aims to contribute to the region’s ecological health but also to inspire community participation in environmental conservation efforts.
